On Thursday, July 11, 2024, a fire broke out at the Mainland Oil and Gas filling station located in the Kubwa area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, around 5:30 pm.
The fire was reportedly caused after a tanker discharging fuel at the filling station caught fire during the process. In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, quickly mobilized police patrol teams from the Kubwa division and personnel from the Police Mobile Force 50, along with operatives from the Federal Fire Service, to the scene.
The combined efforts of the police, fire service personnel, and members of the public were able to extinguish the fire, although the tanker was completely burned.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as a result of the incident.While the cause of the fire outbreak is still under investigation, the situation is now under control, with the fire having been successfully extinguished.
