Several students at Saint Academy in Busa Buji community, Jos North LGA, Plateau State, were trapped after a two-storey school building collapsed around 8:30 am on Friday. Witnesses reported that the students were writing exams at the time of the collapse.
Emergency teams, including soldiers and police, have stormed the site to conduct rescue efforts and extricate the trapped individuals. Alfred Alabo, the Plateau police command spokesperson stated that rescue operations are ongoing. “We are still investigating, we are here with the commissioner of police and other government agencies to ensure that we rescue them,” he said.
The exact number of casualties is still unclear, but reports suggest that over 200 students may be trapped under the collapsed structure. Rescue efforts are underway, and more details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
