MTN has resumed nationwide operations following a temporary closure due to widespread customer outrage and vandalism related to SIM disconnections for failing to link with National Identification Numbers (NINs).
The telecommunications provider announced on Wednesday that its physical shops will be open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and continue to offer 24/7 support through digital channels.
The shutdown, which led to disruptions and protests, prompted the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to order the immediate restoration of affected lines.
The NIN-SIM linkage regulation, aimed at enhancing security, has faced multiple deadline extensions, with the latest set for July 31, 2024.
