A Joint Committee of the ECOWAS Parliament, led by Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, is currently convening in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from August 12 to August 16.
The weeklong session is centered on “The Role of the ECOWAS Parliament in Community Budget Formulation and Monitoring.”This meeting involves various committees, including Administration, Finance, Budget, and Economic Research, with the primary goal of enhancing members’ understanding of budgetary issues and improving their oversight capabilities. Participants will benefit from insights provided by various resource persons and stakeholders, aiming to strengthen the parliament’s role in economic governance within the region.
The discussions are expected to cover critical aspects of budget formulation and monitoring, ensuring that the ECOWAS Parliament can effectively contribute to the economic development of member states.
