West Ham United has officially signed Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a deal reportedly worth £15 million ($19 million). The 26-year-old right-back has agreed to a seven-year contract with the Hammers after spending five years at Old Trafford, where he made 190 appearances since joining from Crystal Palace in 2019.
Wan-Bissaka expressed his excitement about returning to London, stating, “It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life.”Despite being part of United’s FA Cup final victory against Manchester City last season, Wan-Bissaka was not included in manager Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming season. With his departure, Manchester United is expected to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich as his replacement.
This transfer marks West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer as they prepare for the new Premier League season, with Wan-Bissaka set to make his debut against Aston Villa on August 17. West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, praised Wan-Bissaka’s talent and experience, highlighting his versatility and ability in one-on-one situations as significant assets for the team.
