Delta State Police have reported the killing of a suspected kidnapper and the arrest of three others during a raid in Ewu community, Ughelli South Local Government Area. The operation, conducted on August 12, 2024, was prompted by ongoing investigations into a previously detained suspect. During the raid, police encountered resistance from the kidnapper’s gang, leading to a gun battle that resulted in the death of the suspected kidnapper, who later succumbed to injuries at a local hospital.
The operation also yielded the recovery of several firearms, including a Beretta pistol, a pump-action shotgun, and a locally fabricated revolver.
In a separate incident, police are intensifying efforts against a kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of a 29-year-old individual from Kokori Community, who had N5 million stolen from his bank account. A subsequent raid in Sapele led to the arrest of key gang members, including the syndicate’s leader, Tony Binitie, along with additional weapons seized during the operation.
