A massive fire at Lokoja’s GSM Village, sparked by a power surge early Thursday, has wiped out millions of naira worth of goods, including phones and laptops.
Traders arrived to find their shops engulfed, unable to save anything as the fire spread rapidly. Muhammed Yahaya, a devastated shop owner, shared that many traders had just received fresh stock, making the loss even more heartbreaking.
With the market in ruins, traders are pleading for government assistance to rebuild—not just for themselves, but for the hundreds of young people relying on these businesses for survival.
