The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of plot to sack the Chairman of INEC, Mahmoud Yakubu and replace him with the Head of the Commission’s situation room, Amina Zakari.
It said the President is planning to use the excuse of inability to hold elections on Saturday as a reason for the imminent suspension. Feigning ignorance about the real reasons behind the delay, CUPP alleges, “the President in his earlier statement today did not have just a word for the shameful and despicable actions of security forces and the central Bank staff who in obedience to Presidency directives deliberately sabotaged the distribution of sensitive materials in selected states.”
The coalition also accused the President of sabotaging INEC distribution of voting materials.
