The Kaduna State Governor, El- rufai has asked the people of southern
Kaduna zone, not to politicize the recent killings in the State, where he
allegedly stated that, he received a security report that 66 people were
killed in Maro Gida and iri axis of Kajuru Local Government.
The governor who recently visited the affected community where 66
people were reportedly killed, said there had been concerted efforts by
“bigoted busy bodies” to deny or play down the casualty figures, adding
that the commissioner of police has confirmed that some arrests had
been made in connection with the incident and that the suspects would
be charged.
The Southern Kaduna People’s Union Union (SOKAPU) has demanded that the
Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the director, Department of State
Services (DSS) carry out an independent investigation, adding that
casualty figure given by the governor’s was false; According to the
union “we are startled that it was the governor, and not the police, that
announced the alleged killings in Kajuru. Let Nigerians and the world
know that, should there be any breakdown of law and order in Kaduna
State, Governor el-Rufai should be held Responsible”.
