Atiku: I Will Not Call Buhari, I Will Call My Lawyers Instead

The presidential candidate of the PDP in the just-concluded presidential election- Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has announced that he would not be reaching for his phone to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the polls.

In a statement he personally signed and released on Wednesday, morning following the announcement of the presidential election results by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission- Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the former Vice President announced that he would go to court to fight what he described as “manifest and premeditated malpractices.”

He questioned the anomaly of high voter turnout in conflict zones like Yobe and Borno States while states like Rivers and Akwa Ibom witnessed low turnouts.

In the words of the PDP chieftain, “one obvious red flag is the statistical impossibility of states ravaged by the war on terror generating much higher voter turnouts than peaceful states.”

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar also protested the suppression of votes in his strongholds wondering why polls figures in a state like Akwa Ibom would be 50% less than what they were in 2015.

He condemned the militarisation of the electoral process, the intimidation and harassment of voters by security operatives and other instances of manifest abuse of the electoral process by agents sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress.

He assured his supporters and Nigerians in general that he and his party would not stand by idly and watch the emasculation of democracy in Nigeria.
