The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress- Comrade Adams Oshiomole hosted a world press conference Thursday afternoon to address Nigerians following the declaration of the party’s candidate- President Muhammadu Buhari – as the winner of last Saturday’s election which saw him pool over 15 million vote- defeating his closest rival- Atiku Abubarkar- of the PDP who came second with 11.25million votes.
Comrade Oshiomole thanked Nigerians for their support and continued trust in the party- describing Saturday’s election as a “referendum on integrity.” He called for a thorough investigation into the spate of violence and murder that attended last Saturday’s election with a view to bringing perpetrators to book. The former governor was insistent that the election-save for what he described as “isolated incidences of violence” was “largely peaceful.”
The APC party chairman promised Nigerians that their trust in the party would not be in vain as President Buhari would pull all the stops to meet the expectations of voters. He dismissed the threat by the presidential candidate of the PDP to go to court insisting that APC’s mandate was obtained genuinely and the party had nothing to be afraid of.
