The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, the nation’s lead anti-graft agency has deployed unmanned aerial vehicles in Benin- the Edo State capital to check the menace of vote-buying in today’s state assembly polls in the state. Governorship elections are not due in Edo until sometime in mid 2020 but voters would file out to elect those who shall represent them at the state house of assembly.
Vote buying has become an increasingly dangerous trend in Nigeria politics with politicians and their agents reportedly paying voters to cast their ballot for them at polling units. The anti-graft agency is leading the campaign to end this ugly drift in our democracy.
