The Federal Government has issued a ban on Boeing 737 Max airplanes from flying into Nigeria’s airspace, following the fatal air crash in Ethiopia. The Minister of State, Aviation, Heidi Sirika made this known at the end of the Federal Executive council (FEC) meeting today in Abuja, which was presided over by President Mohammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa.
According to the Minister, “while there is no operator of Boeing Airplanes in Nigeria, Federal Government had also directed that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to issue a directive stopping anyone from flying into Nigeria using Boeing 737 Max 8 and Max 9, pending the determination of the actual cause of the crash in Ethiopia and also pending the outcome of the response of the manufacturer, which is Messers Boeing”.
