The Nigerian Labour Congress, the umbrella body for civil servants and the Federal government has been at logger heads for months on the demand for increase in the national minimum wage. This in September 2018 prompted a nationwide 14 day warning strike which was called off on the third day. However, Nigeria’s Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, who is the man in the eye of the storm said in a circular that the public service in Nigeria was bedeviled with problems and conflicts.
