The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has said there are over 30,000 bandits in the state and five other northern states.
Matawalle, who was represented by the newly appointed State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, at a press briefing on Friday, said there are over 100 bandits’ camps across the states, with each having at least 300 members.
Other northern states listed by the Governor, include Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger.
He added that the less than 6,000 troops deployed to the North-West states were not enough to fight the bandits across the region.
