President Bola Tinubu says he will not hesitate to sack ministers who are failing in their responsibilities to Nigerians.
Tinubu spoke Thursday during a meeting with the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) at the presidential villa in Abuja.
He asked the Arewa leaders to summon the governors and make them sympathetic to the needs of the local people. The president said the number of out-of-school children in the country is “unacceptable,” noting that education is a tool against poverty.
Tinubu said the infrastructure decay and poverty rate in northern Nigeria is unacceptable, adding that something must be done to address the situation.
The president directed that a committee be set up to follow up on the issues raised during the meeting. George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), was assigned to lead the follow-up efforts.
The president also used the occasion to appeal for national unity and continued support for his government as it solves decades-long challenges confronting the populace.
