President Bola Tinubu has established a tripartite economic advisory committee as a key step towards stabilizing Nigeria’s economy, marking a significant effort in this direction.
This committee, comprising representatives from both the Federal and State governments, alongside members from the Organised Private Sector, was formed and announced by President Tinubu during a gathering with crucial stakeholders at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, the President emphasized, “We are diligently working to revitalize the economy. As I have reiterated on numerous occasions, the welfare of the people of this nation is our utmost priority. We are deeply concerned about students, mothers, fathers, farmers, traders—every segment of our society.
Among the private sector representatives are notable figures such as Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest individual; Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman of the BUA Group; and the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, among others.
Speaking to the press, Dangote highlighted that discussions primarily centered on economic revival, food security, and employment generation. He further stated that the committee would thoroughly examine these issues and propose solutions.
Governor Soludo explained that the committee plans regular meetings to deliberate on economic affairs and present recommendations to the President accordingly.
