The House Committee on Aviation has questioned Minister Festus Keyamo about the deteriorating infrastructure at Nigeria’s local and international airports during an interface with the minister and other officials of the Ministry of Aviation in Abuja.
Keyamo acknowledging the issue said it is currently doing a safety assessment within the industry as well as an international audit by the International Civil Aviation Authority ICAO
He assured lawmakers that the Ministry is compiling a list of necessary upgrades and safety standards to bring all airports up to international benchmarks.
Additionally, Keyamo informed the committee that many of the contracts awarded by the Ministry are still in progress. Following the discussions, the committee and other stakeholders entered an executive session to further address the pressing issues facing the aviation sector.
