An inferno engulfed the private residence of Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, resulting in extensive damage and little salvageable property left behind.
The residence, situated at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, Off Mark Okoye Street, Asokoro, Abuja, fell victim to the blaze, believed to have been triggered by an electrical fault in one of the children’s rooms.
Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident, and firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by approximately 2:51 pm.
Reports indicate significant devastation to the seven-bedroom duplex, with visible cracks on the walls and the roofs flattened by the intense heat of the inferno.
The upper floor suffered complete destruction, including household items such as air conditioners, beds, clothing, documents, credentials, and jewelry, among other possessions.
Emergency response teams, comprising FEMA, the Federal Fire Service, and the FCT Fire Service, swiftly responded to the scene to manage the situation.
