Some parts of Abuja are experiencing a blackout and a drop in power supply due to the vandalization of the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s tower 70 along the 33kV Gwagwalada-Katampe line.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah,confirmed the incident, stating that the tower was vandalized on Monday night, reducing bulk power supply flexibility and the power volume into Abuja by 250MW.
TCN has mobilized to the site and commenced emergency repairs, urging vigilance in the fight against vandalism of power equipment.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the frequent collapse of the national grid to find a lasting solution. The motion, put forward by Member Representing Edo, Hon. Billy Osawaru highlighted the importance of sustainable energy for economic growth.
