Bandits have abducted over 50 people in a recent attack on Bassa community, Shiroro local government area of Niger state
It was gathered that the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday when bandits reportedly stormed the community in large numbers in motorcycles.
Residents were said to be preparing for the day’s activities, when they were disrupted by the bandits, causing them to flee into bushes for safety.
The co-convener of Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Kokki, who confirmed the attack, described the bandits as terrorists.
He said the exact number of people kidnapped could not be ascertained as at press time but that the victims were very many.
Kokki also revealed that on Tuesday, some other villages in Bassa were attacked with many losses recorded.
He added that Shiroro local government area is in dire need of help, as people continue to live at the mercy of the bandits.
