Twenty one persons have been killed and forty have been kidnapped in recent bandits attack on communities in Shiroro Local Government, Niger State.
The attacks happened on Tuesday morning when over 300 gunmen on motorcycles stormed Kurege, Sabon Gida, Sararai and Rafin Kanya villages, shooting sporadically and leaving other villagers injured.
An eye witness, who is also an indigene of Shiroro Local Government, Galadima Salisu, confirmed the incident to newsmen. He said unless governments at all levels come to their aid, the area could be taken over by bandits who operate at will.
The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, also confirmed the incident but however denied knowledge of the actual number of casualties.
Matane added that the Niger State government is doing everything possible within its powers to curtail the problem of insecurity affecting the people of the State.
