During a raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday in Lagos, an unidentified man jumped from the seventh floor of 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos, and died.
It was gathered that a joint team of EFCC operatives and policemen stormed the estate in search of some alleged Internet fraudsters. But during the raid, the deceased, who is a short-term resident of the estate, jumped down from the 7th floor of the building and died.
The EFCC officials immediately informed the police attached to the Bar Beach Police Division of the incident.
The incident was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who said the man was not even the target of the EFCC.
Adejobi said, “He was not even the target of the EFCC when he jumped from the seventh floor. We were told that he was not a resident, but a guest. It was quite unfortunate. He was taken to a hospital after he sustained fractures and was placed on oxygen; but he gave up the ghost. We are trying to ascertain his identity. Once that is done, we will contact his family.”
