The £4.2 million, which was repatriated back to the Federal Government by the United Kingdom last week, has been returned to Delta State.
The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, disclosed this before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on “Assessment and Status of all Recovered Loots Movable and Immovable Assets from 2002-2020 by agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria for Effective Efficient Management and Utilization”.
He said the fund which was looted by a former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has been returned to the state.
Recall that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had hinted that Delta State may not get to share in the £4.2 million Ibori loot recovered from the United Kingdom.
Malami had ruled out the the principal state where the funds was looted from while answering questions during an interview with Channels Television last Wednesday.
He said Nigeria would deviate from the agreement reached with the United Kingdom government concerning the disbursement of the fund.
