Nigeria has recorded 404 new cases of COVID-19, the highest daily figure recorded in more than four months.
The 404 new cases were recorded on Tuesday, higher than the 317 reported on Saturday, July 24.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) released the update on its official Facebook page.
The total number of infections recorded in the country since the outbreak of the virus now stands at 171,728.
However, no death was recorded from the disease on Tuesday, leaving the total number of fatalities at 2,134.
Ekiti State, South-west Nigeria and Kaduna State, North-west Nigeria, reported five cases each while Gombe and Kano also reported three cases each, as Edo and Ogun States recorded two each.
Infection rates have largely concentrated in Lagos, Nigeria’s hardest hit city by the disease.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire said that there is a possibility that the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic has not been experienced.
