NIPC boss appears before EFCC probe panel over corruption allegations

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Yewande Sadiku, appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Monday over corruption allegations.

Sources familiar with Sadiku’s case with the commission said she arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC at about 11am in honor of an invitation by the anti graft agency to respond to allegations of corruption made against her.

It was gathered that as of Monday evening, she was still being interviewed by a team of operatives of the commission.

Sources also disclosed that some petitioners accused the NIPC boss of abuse of office, contract irregularities and receipt of certain allowances.

The source said, “She is cooperating and has volunteered, but there is still a lot of grounds to be covered.”

Although details of the allegations against her are sketchy, it was gathered that some aggrieved board members in her organization have continuously accused her of wrongdoing, duplicating petitions to several investigative agencies and the presidency.

The official has consistently denied any wrongdoing and all the agencies that have investigated her, including the ICPC and the Code of Conduct Bureau, have not established any wrongdoing so far.

Insiders at the NIPC said some board members and management staff are crossed with  Sadiku for insisting on due process and accountability in the running of the agency.

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed her presence in the commission on Monday to newsmen but did not speak further.

Sadiku has been Executive Secretary/CEO of NIPC, Nigeria’s foremost investment promotion agency, since November 2016.
