The Governor of Sokoto state and chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said that the party has agreed to work together and that the embattled PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, will remain party chairman until the its national convention.
The PDP also moved its National convention, which was earlier slated for December 2021, up to October this year.
Tambuwal, who made the announcement while briefing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after a closed door meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees, said the convention would be conducted before the end of October.
Commenting on the internal crisis in the party, Tambuwal said the members have agreed to work together.
Tambuwal said, “We are very happy to announce that we have discussed all matters and we have resolved to continue to work as a united family.”
On Monday, the PDP governors and stakeholders of the party met for several hours after which they reconvened on Tuesday.
The 13 state governors elected on the platform of the party, members of the national assembly, former ministers, former senate presidents, former governors, and other party stakeholders were present during the talks on Tuesday.
Wajil Jubrin, chairman, PDP board of trustees, speaking at the meeting, said the presence of the governors is a proof that the party is committed to ending the crisis.
