Seven persons burnt to death in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

Seven persons have been reportedly burnt to death in a car crash on Sunday night along Lagos Ibadan express way.
This was confirmed to newsmen by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State on Monday in Abeokuta.
The FRSC Public Education Officer in Ogun state, superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe said the accident occurred at about 22:40 pm.

Okpe said the victims “were burnt beyond recognition”.
She added that the accident involved “two vehicles with no registration number due to the nature of the crash”.
Okpe further said, “a total of 10 persons were involved in the crash,” adding that “3 persons were injured while the other 7 were burnt beyond recognition only to be identified with skulls.”
The FRSC spokesperson attributed the suspected cause of the crash to route violation (one way), stating that the two vehicles had a head-on collusion due to one way drive, which resulted to a fire outbreak.
She also revealed that the injured victims had been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention.
Okpe quoted the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Ahmed Umar, to have cautioned the motorists to abstain from driving against traffic, knowing the dangers attached to route violation.
She added that Umar commiserated with the families of the crash victims, even as he enjoined them to contact FRSC Ogunmakin Area for more information about the injured victims.
