The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has temporarily ceased all operations on the Abuja-Kaduna route after unknown terrorists attacked a Kaduna-bound train moving from Abuja.
The bandits reportedly attacked the train around the Dutse axis in Kaduna, just a few kilometres from the Rigasa Train Station in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.
Unspecified people have been reported injured, killed or kidnapped during the attack.
NRC took to it’s Twitter page on Tuesday morning to announce the suspended of activities on the route.
“Dear passengers, due to unforeseen circumstances, Train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route have been temporarily suspended. Further communication would be given in due course,” NRC tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement, disclosed that the evacuation of passengers had been concluded by security forces, officials of Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Nigerian Red Cross.
Mr Awuwan added that efforts are ongoing to move injured passengers to hospitals for urgent medical attention.
