Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), have been deployed on the Long Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The deployment was ordered by the Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, as part of follow-up routine patrol of the area aimed at complementing the efforts of other police units and reinforcing security around the area.
This was disclosed in a statement which read, “Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has deployed officers to inward and outward Ogun State Long Bridge as part of follow up routine patrol of the area aimed at complementing the efforts of other police units and reinforce security around the area.”
Lately, that the section of the expressway had become a play ground for robbers in the early hours of the day due to the traffic caused by the ongoing reconstruction of the road.
Earlier, hawking was banned on the long bridge. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the miscreants were disguising as hawkers to rob motorists.
