The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has destroyed a notorious fake dollars syndicate who specialises in printing, sales and distribution of fake US Dollar notes.
This was disclosed in a press statement released on Monday, by the Director of Public Relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu, stating that the arrest of the syndicate was following a credible intelligence.
Before their luck ran out, Odumosu stated that the syndicate allegedly operated for ten years near the Mararaba under bridge by HEART PLAZA in the Karu Local Government region of Nasarawa State.
They have scammed and conned numerous people out of millions of naira while posing as black market traders who exchange Nigerian naira for US dollars and then give their unwary victims counterfeit dollar bills.
Two members of the syndicate, Ya’u Muhammed and Lamido Usman were arrested after the CG’S SIS Squad used the sum of N250,000 to disguise in exchange for US dollars.
Other items recovered from the suspects includes, one First Bank ATM card, one screw driver and original $100 dollar note.
The Director of Public Relations, therefore stated that the suspects are currently undergoing preliminary investigation after which they would be handed over alongside the exhibits to NSCDC Nasarawa State Command under whose jurisdiction the arrest took place for further action.
