The Nigeria Army has seized Rundele Community, Emohua Local Government region, Rivers State, in connection with the suspected murder of a soldier in the region.
According to a source, soldiers had an encounter with some alleged oil thieves in the area on Saturday, which resulted in the death of one of their men.
After confirming the death of their buddy, the soldiers stormed the village.
According to a community insider who corroborated the event, heavily armed soldiers have taken over the village and are allegedly trashing property.
“It was because of this bunkering issue,” he explained. Yesterday, they attempted to halt some bunkering boys, they had a gunfight and one of the army officers was killed.
“Right now, there are so many soldiers in the community that they are impeding movement.” There is currently no movement in Ndele.
“They’re not shooting, but they beat anyone they see moving around.” They are currently patrolling the neighborhood.”
Iweha Onyekonachi, Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Army’s Six Division, has failed to react to text messages about the developments.
