Buhari appoints Toyin Madein as Accountant-General

The appointment of Toyin Madein as the Accountant-General of the Federation has been approved by the President Muhammadu Buhari.

On Friday in Abuja, a statement dated May 19, 2023 was issued and signed by Mohammed Abdullahi Ahmed, the Director of Communications for the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

The statement announced that Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, had declared that the appointment would become effective starting on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Madein was born on March 7, 1965 in Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State. Prior to her appointment, she held the position of Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Recalling, 20 directors from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies were given clearance by anti-graft agencies to participate in the selection process for the vacant position.

In July 2022, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested former AGF Ahmed Idris for allegedly misappropriating N109bn, leading to his suspension and prosecution. As a result, a vacancy was created.

The 20 candidates who were shortlisted for the process include Danladi Comfort from Gombe for the Interior position, Mohammed Yar’Abba from Sokoto for the Fire Service position, Mufutau Bukola from Oyo for the Transportation position, Mahmud Kambari from Borno for the North East Development Commission position, Mohammed Dojo from Gombe for the Interior position, and Waziri Samuel from Borno for the Agriculture and Rural Development position.

Among the other names are Maiden Sakirat from Ogun in OHCSF, Adaramoye Oluwole from Ekiti in Humanitarian Affairs, Isa Abubakar from Yobe in Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogunsemowo Olakunle from Ogun in Environment, Egbokhale Charity from Edo in NFF, Ibrahim Jibo from Kano in National Boundary Commission, Ogbodo Nnam from Enugu in National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, and Bakare Juliannah from Ekiti in NPF.
