In a shocking turn of events, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) demolished a fully completed multimillion naira duplex on Monday, 28 August. The luxurious structure, located at Cotonou Crescent, Makeni Street, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, was allegedly built on an unapproved plot of land, sparking a frenzy of speculation and claims.
The duplex initially believed to belong to Oba Oyebade Lipede, the Alake of Egba land, took center stage in a twisted tale involving Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and Alhaji Ademu Teku. These individuals reportedly seized control of the property and proceeded to construct the duplex, despite explicit warnings.
Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of Development Control, addressed the media, shedding light on the decision to raze the property. He stated,
“We demolished the duplex because somebody built without a valid title and building plan approval on someone else’s land. Investigation revealed that the developer is not the owner of the plot, which is why we had to remove the building.”
