The Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has clarified the disbursement of the 5 billion Naira allocation for palliative to various states in the country.
In a tweet via his official X page, he stated that the Plateau State Government has received 2 Billion Naira of the allocation which includes a 52% grant component and a 48% loan component.
The governor noted that the 3,000 bags of rice were received alongside the 2 Billion naira and have been distributed to the Local governments. He added that they have been mandated to use 1 billion Naira to buy rice locally; this is to ensure that money circulates within the local economy.
The governor further noted that a committee will be set up to advise the Government on possible palliative options which will cover the wide spectrum of society.
He stated that his government will be looking at issues like improving the bursary of indigenous students and getting fertilizers at subsidized rates for farmers, among others.
