The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State has issued a stern ultimatum to Governor Bassey Otu, demanding the prompt resumption and completion of the suspended Local Government Elections in the state.
The elections were initially set in motion by the state government in May 2022 but were postponed due to the general elections held in February and March 2023. The latest announced date for the local government elections was October 21, 2023.
In a joint statement signed by IPAC’s state chairman, Comrade Anthony Attah, and secretary, Pastor Ntami Esege, the organization expressed deep concern that the governor failed to address the scheduled local council elections during his recent public address marking his first 100 days in office.
They pointed out that this omission suggests a lack of prioritization of local government administration.
