Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been declared the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial District election by the election petition tribunal in Lokoja. The tribunal, led by Kemakolam Ojiako, ruled in favor of Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that she was the rightful winner of the senatorial election held on February 25.
This decision overturns the initial declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which had declared Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner. Natasha had filed a petition with the tribunal, seeking to nullify Sadiku-Ohere’s victory.
This outcome marks a significant victory for Natasha, who had previously accused Governor Yahaya Bello of politically motivated actions, including the destruction of major roads leading to her strongholds on the eve of the elections.
