The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a public advisory, urging Nigerians to dismiss a circulating social media message falsely asserting that candidates participating in the ongoing police constable recruitment are required to pay N2000 for screening. Emphasizing the fraudulent and misleading nature of this message, the PSC has cautioned the public against falling for such misinformation.
The deceptive message, utilizing the Commission’s name, falsely declares, “Congratulations…come along with 2k when coming” for the January 8th screening. In response to this, the PSC, through its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, released a statement vehemently disapproving of the misinformation. Ani made it clear that the Commission disavows and distances itself from this and deceptive publication.
Reiterating that the entire recruitment process, spanning from registration to medical examinations, is entirely free, the PSC stressed that no fees are solicited at any stage. The Commission is resolute in holding accountable any individuals attempting to exploit candidates through such misleading claims.
Ani further clarified that the Police Recruitment Board is communicating directly with successful candidates, providing comprehensive information about the screening process. Candidates are strongly advised to rely on official communication channels and refrain from depending on unreliable social media sources.
The PSC underscored its commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, adhering to federal character principles. Candidates are strongly encouraged to resist any inclination to take shortcuts, as stringent regulations are in place to safeguard the integrity of the entire process.
