Aiyedatiwa Distributes N30 Million Microcredit to Widows

A moment was dedicated to honoring the late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON, a political hero and advocate for regional security. The Micro-Credit Loan Scheme for widows, featuring a zero-interest rate, continues to be a flagship program with an allocation of N30 million this year to support their businesses. Addressing concerns about loan repayment, the Governor assured continued accessibility and appealed for cooperation to ensure the program’s sustainability.

The Governor announced an expanded role for State Chairmen of the Nigeria Legion, now assuming dual responsibilities as Commandants of the Nigerian Legion Corps and Commissionaires, with a focus on security-related activities. He commended stakeholders for collaborating to make the event a success and reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare, progress, and development of Ondo State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa called for peaceful elections in the upcoming year, urging all stakeholders to conduct themselves honorably to ensure the state’s peace and progress.

Earlier, in an interview, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Adebunmi Osadahun, acknowledged the armed forces’ efforts in promoting peace and unity in the country. She affirmed that the loans were granted based on the recommendations of the Legion and the Widows Council. The Commissioner noted that the State Governor, State Executive Council, among others, contributed to the appeal fund for the Nigerian Legion.

Also, speaking in an interview, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ondo State Council, Col. Olu Apata (Rtd), described the event as an annual commemoration to honor both fallen and serving heroes.
