The EU and France condemned a terrorist attack in Iran during a ceremony commemorating the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani by the US.
The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, expressed condolences, condemning the attack and showing solidarity with the Iranian people. France’s Foreign Ministry separately strongly condemned the terror attack.
The explosions occurred on the route to the cemetery where Soleimani is buried, resulting in at least 103 casualties. Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike on January 3, 2020, outside the Baghdad airport in Iraq.
