The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has affirmed the commencement of efforts to review and potentially improve the pension plan for retired police officers. Egbetokun reiterated his commitment to ensuring officers have access to an enhanced pension scheme that safeguards their financial well-being.
In a meeting held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja in 2023, the IGP addressed outstanding issues related to police pensions, inviting pensioners, active, and retired officers. The current administration prioritizes the welfare of police officers, particularly concerning retirement benefits.
The IGP urged calm among serving and retired officers, emphasizing solidarity and cooperation with the Force’s leadership to develop a comprehensive and effective Police Pension Scheme that meets the needs of retired police officers and enhances the overall well-being of the police family in Nigeria.
