The governor has revealed plans to establish an 80-bed health facility in Lagos, a project facilitated by Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish a medical university in collaboration with the Federal Government before the end of 2024.
The primary goal is to significantly upscale health training, with the aim of graduating between 1,000 and 1,500 doctors annually. The governor highlights the critical need to address the shortage of healthcare professionals and prevent the migration of medical talents out of the country.
Expressing gratitude, the governor commends Mr. Gbajabiamila for facilitating and handing over the secondary health facility to the state government. The hospital, now named the Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital, was initially a Primary Health Centre but has been upgraded and equipped with essential facilities such as a dialysis center, CT scan, and alternative power sources.
This transformation is expected to significantly enhance healthcare accessibility in Lagos, particularly benefiting the residents of Surulere. The governor emphasizes the importance of providing top-notch facilities to retain the best talents and further improve the overall healthcare sector in the state.
