The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to candidates participating in the ongoing 86 Regular Recruits Intake, urging them to refrain from engaging in manipulation and fraudulent activities that could compromise the integrity of the recruitment process.
The caution follows the circulation of a video on social media depicting the apprehension of certain candidates attempting to manipulate the system and exploit indigenous candidates from Lagos State through dubious means.
In response to these incidents, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized the Army’s unwavering commitment to upholding a transparent and credible recruitment process aligned with its core values of integrity and fairness. The arrests depicted in the video reflect the military’s dedication to ensuring the integrity of the recruitment exercise.
The video serves as evidence of one of the stringent processes implemented to guarantee that only authentic indigenes of a specific state are recruited using the allocated slots for that state, preventing non-indigenes from taking advantage of the process. Nwachukwu highlighted that the video clearly illustrates the transparency of the recruitment process, with the State Representative, a key member of the recruitment team, actively participating.
The State Representative was granted unrestricted access to scrutinize candidates’ state of origin, ensuring the genuineness of their claims. This proactive approach aims to maintain the credibility of the recruitment process and prevent any fraudulent activities that could compromise the selection of qualified and deserving candidates.
