The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has urged Nigerians to view the battle against insecurity as a collective effort, employing the popular social media slang, “No gree for anybody,” to convey the message.
During the DHQ’s bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the need for citizens to consider security as a shared responsibility. He encouraged Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the military, stating, “You see something, you say something, and we assure them of doing something” in pidgin English.
In his address, he emphasized that in 2024, citizens should unite against terrorists and those promoting insecurity. Major General Buba reiterated the military’s commitment to acting on information provided by Nigerians.
He outlined the continued focus of ongoing operations in 2024, emphasizing the objective to locate and eliminate terrorists wherever they may be hiding. The ultimate goal is to ensure the lasting defeat of terrorists, preventing them from causing harm to citizens across the country.
Major General Buba highlighted the military’s strategy of targeting terrorist commanders and their senior leadership. He assured that, from the highest leadership to the lowest commanders, those involved in terrorism are being actively pursued, and the military will persist until they are either apprehended or surrender.
