Rivers SHA Screens Nine Commissioner Nominees

The Rivers State House of Assembly has scheduled Wednesday for the screening of nine nominees put forward by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, seeking approval as commissioners. As outlined in a circular posted on the State Assembly’s Facebook page, the screening is set to take place at the Assembly Chamber, Legislative Quarters, Off PH/Aba Expressway, Port Harcourt, the state capital, beginning at 10 am.

The circular, signed by the Clerk of the Assembly, Dr. Emeka Amadi, stipulates that nominees should attend the screening with 40 sets of Curriculum Vitae (CV) and original and photocopies of their credentials. The individuals invited for the screening include Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), Dr. Jacobson Mbina, Dr. Gift Worlu, Mrs. Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, Hon. Isaac Kamalu, and Engr. Austin Ben Chioma.

Over the weekend, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, expressed acceptance of President Bola Tinubu’s directives during his intervention in the state’s political crisis. Wike affirmed his fulfillment of every condition in the peace accord signed alongside the incumbent governor, Fubara, during a visit to the Oba of Ogbaland’s palace.

Accompanied by notable figures such as Senator Sam Anyanwu, Senator Barinada Mpigi, Chief Victor Giadom, Timipire Sylva, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and Felix Obuah, Wike clarified that the peace accord involved the withdrawal of court matters initiated by Fubara, cessation of impeachment proceedings against Wike by the Rivers State House of Assembly, and recognition of Martin Amaewhule’s leadership in the Assembly and 26 other lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress due to their loyalty to Wike, not Edison Ehie.
