At least eight migrants have drowned when a boat carrying them capsized off Turkey’s Gokceada island in the Aegean Sea.
The nationalities of the deceased are not yet known. Two were rescued by the coastguard, and two managed to swim to safety.
The search and rescue operation is still ongoing. Turkey hosts nearly four million refugees, mainly Syrians, and reached a deal with the EU in 2016 to manage the refugee influx.
