The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has alerted Nigerians to the health implications associated with the forced ripening of fruits and the adulteration of palm oil.
This warning was issued by the Acting Executive Vice Chairman of Communication, Dr. Adamu Abdullahi, during a one-day sensitization campaign held in Abuja on Thursday.
Dr. Abdullahi expressed concerns over the unethical practices of some traders, retailers, and farmers who engage in shortcuts to make quick profits. Dr. Abdullahi highlighted the disturbing increase in harmful practices in food production and processing.
He warned that these practices pose significant health risks and called for stricter adherence to food safety standards to protect public health.
