The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has commended the media for its vital role in combating terrorism, during the opening of a two-day training workshop for Defence Correspondents and Reporters.
The workshop held at the Office of the National Security Adviser focused on “Effective Reporting Towards Strengthening Alternatives to Terrorist Ideologies.”
Idris underscored the media’s power to shape narratives and promote peace, cautioning that misinformation and fake news can be as damaging as terrorism itself. He urged journalists to collaborate with experts to provide comprehensive coverage of terrorism and its alternatives, stressing the importance of objective and fair reporting.
