Hunter Biden was convicted Tuesday of all three felony charges related to the purchase of a gun in 2018 when prosecutors argued, that the president’s son lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.
Biden was charged in federal court in Wilmington with three felony counts tied to possession of a gun while using narcotics; he had pleaded not guilty. The jury started its deliberations Monday afternoon and deliberated for about three hours before it returned the historic verdict.
The trial, the first involving the child of a sitting president, came as the president faces re-election fight against former President Donald Trump in November.
The judge said sentencing is usually set for 120 days following a verdict. Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000 at sentencing, though he likely will receive far less as a first-time offender.
