The Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Dalijan, has announced the arrest of a member of the State House of Assembly, a former local government chairman, and a district head in connection with banditry in the state.
The identities of those arrested were not disclosed. The Commissioner made this known during a meeting with Thomas Parker, the officer in charge of the Counterterrorism Unit, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC, at the command headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.
Commissioner Dalijan called on the UN to assist in establishing a forensic laboratory in Zamfara State to address the challenge of conducting forensic analysis in Lagos.
He urged Parker to replicate the UN’s efforts in Maiduguri by seeking assistance to train personnel, investigate crimes, and establish forensic laboratories to expedite the investigation and prosecution of criminals in Zamfara.
